English Landscape Watercolor in Period Oak Frame, 19th Century
19th Century Watercolor of English or Scottish Highland Landscape, John Arthur Dees, initialed J.A. Dees in lower left corner. This piece is framed in a thick, heavy period oak frame with a gold filet accenting the matting and artwork. Lovely use of blue and green hues which contract beautifully against the foliage in the foreground. A realistic depiction of how these mountain ranges appear from afar, very similar to the Blue Ridge Mountains in the United States. The river is painted as though you can see it running with the glistening of the sun peaking through the partially overcast sky.
Manageable in size, this piece is ready to hang, professionally framed and backed.
