Highland Coos and Heather Oil on Canvas Painting, 19th Century
Antique 19th century oil on canvas, 'Highland Coos drinking at a Loch in Heather', in period wood frame. Signed by artist in lower left corner, Mary Rowler. A true staple to the Scottish Highland way of life, highland coos are abundant in the highlands, grazing through the hills, glens, and loch & rivers. They are prominent throughout Scottish culture and it doesn't hurt that they are absolutely beautiful creatures.
We are quite particular with the highland coo paintings we present; this one stood out to us because the scene captures the magnitude of the highland hills and features every characteristic of the landscapes seen up north: Munro's (mountains), mist, lochs, rivers, blooming heather, and these lovely multi-colored coo's. The warm hues draw you in and bring a scene of cozy, calm, and moodiness to your walls and home. Everyone needs a coo painting, if not more than one!
Disclaimer(s): Some wear to the moulding of the period frame.
Period: 19th Century, 1800s | Provenance: Scotland, United Kingdom
Dimensions: 17.5 inches high, 21.25 inches wide
